What a Great weekend

March 3, 2008- Wow this was a long weekend but a good one! My family was together...me, my beautiful wife, and my two doggies; it was the most relaxing weekend I have had in a really long time. It was wonderful.

So I know I have kind of turned this into a sports Blog so let me ramble on about what I know is going on with the Eagles. Well first thing’s first, great job by the team going out and signing the biggest free agent name available in Asante Samuel! Then there is the pick-up of Chris Clemons from the Raiders, I think, in a way he is going to remind a lot of people

here in Philadelphia of the way Ike Reese used to play. I know Clemons is a DE but they both play with high energy and have a motor that doesn't stop. Clemons could also turn out to be a great pick up for the special teams units as well.

So what’s in the future for the Eagles? Well rumors are flying all over the internet about a possible trade for WR Larry Fitzgerald from the Arizona Cardinals, it will take a lot to make this happen but I’m onboard if the front office can swing it. Larry is big, strong and fits well with the existing locker-room. If you can get him, do it, do it NOW! By bringing Fitzgerald to Philadelphia the Eagles would become Super Bowl contenders over night!

Finally what about this clown on the Phillies Cole Hamels? This guy hasn’t even been in the Big Leagues for 3 full seasons yet and he is already complaining about his contract. Hamels was quoted as saying that he will “remember this down the road,” pertaining to the Phillies renewing his contract at $500,000. The number (a $100,000 raise) is entirely comparable with what other top pitchers in Hamels' service class have received.

What a moron, who complains about getting a $100,000 raise after just a cup of coffee at their new job, and people wonder why ball players are called spoiled brats! Grow up dude, your getting paid a lot of money to play baseball, it’s a good gig so shut your mouth and play!

That’s it for now…Don’t forget to post your comments before leaving.

NFL Free Agents and the Philadelphia Eagles

Feb. 27, 2008- Well the NFL free agency period starts Friday morning at 12:01am and the big question is what will the Eagles do? There are rumors flying everywhere that they are involved in possible trade and that they want to drop big money on a defensive back from the Patriots. Well here is what I want to see happen and this is also in my opinion something that is very much possible too happen….

First the sign Asante Samuel to a big time contract and then turn around and trade Lito Sheppard to either Arizona for Larry Fitzgerald and of course they would have to through in a draft pick or two but hey, he is one of the top talents in the league. If they can get Fitzgerald they turn their attention to Cincinnati and Ocho Cinco (Chad Johnson) and try to ship Lito out there. The key is to get either one of those two wide receivers here in Philadelphia, and it can happen if they really want it too.

Next they pay a little less and sign free agent Gibril Wilson away from the NY Giants as the heir apparent to Brian Dawkins. Finally they draft with their first pick in the draft the best Defensive End available, I like the kid from Florida Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida: Harvey's great burst off the edge would provide the team with a natural pass rusher, the type that Jim Johnson loves almost like a young Javon Kearse.

What do you think?

Weekend Winners and Losers

Feb 25, 2008 – Not really much to report today! I think many people have a bad case of the Monday’s, but hey we all have to go to work! So what happened over the weekend? Well the Phillies lost their new pitcher for 3-6 weeks. Phillies closer Brad Lidge is scheduled to have arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Monday and could miss the regular-season opener. That is actually two loses for the Phillies management in less than a week and the season hasn’t even started yet. Their first loss came in Ryan Howard’s arbitration case last week. For more information about Howard’s case please read the posting from Feb. 22.

What else? How about the poor kid from Florida State University, or rather Free Shoes University for us true sports fans, that ripped apart his knee at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis this past weekend. I feel bad for the guy, granted he wasn’t a blue chip player but he was just there trying to live out every kid in America’s football dream and BAM it’s over just like that. I hope he get’s the chance to go back to school or maybe even still get picked up as an undrafted free agent.

Last night was a huge night in Hollywood as the stars of tinsel town strutted their stuff on the red carpet for the 80th Annual Academy Awards. Here is a great link to find out who were the Best Dressed celebrities at the event. I don’t really care for Hollywood "it" girl, (at least she thinks she is the “IT”), Katherine Heigl but Yahoo seems too! She just annoys me! As for the best and worst dressed celebs, why does it seem like I am the only one who disagrees with the so-called professionals. Oh well, that’s why I am here and they’re in Hollywood.

Anyway please check out the links listed to the right for more sports and news highlights! Be safe this week as weather forecasters are saying that is might get a little messy this week and have a great Monday. I’ll post again tomorrow and look forward to reading your comments.

Snow Day

Feb. 22, 2008 – Snow day! Ok well it’s not really a snow day as in I have the day off! I am actually working from home and have a lot of things to get accomplished. So what happened in the world yesterday?

Well first off, the Phillies lost their first arbitration case in a long time. Big Ryan Howard won the case and earned himself a huge payday, in the form of $10 million dollars for one baseball season, wow! Although some say he doesn’t deserve a big payday, the facts are that he has only been in the big leagues for three seasons and has already won one N.L. Rookie of the year award and one N.L. M.V.P award.

So what else happened yesterday? The presidential race heated up in Austin, Texas as Senator Barrack Obama and Senator Hillary Clinton squared off in a heated debate that was broadcast live on CNN. With these two candidates it sometimes seems to get very personal and in reality, at least for me, the election is not about them but, rather about “We the people…” of the U.S.A. I would like to hear what others think about this election year and the candidates; so, if you want to post a comment, I’m all ears.

Finally, the snow is still falling and the entertainment world seems to be heating up the PR for the Oscar awards. That seems to be the only thing Good Morning America talked about today. I know it’s a big deal because the writers’ strike is finally over and they are getting back to work but…Hollywood is like a fantasyland in my opinion. Speaking of Hollywood, J.LO had twins last night, a baby boy and a baby girl.

Well I think all across the country it is snowing and/or raining so, stay warm and keep reading.

Welcome to the World of Blogging

Feb. 20, 2008- This is going to be my online blog! My new position at Godfrey Advertising focuses on PR, new media and web 2.0, saying that, I need to stay current and know what is going on with new media outlets. One of the things I want to better familiarize myself with is the blogging format and I thought what better way to learn about it then to start one myself.

Anyway with this blog I will start off just talking about things in the news (i.e. Sports, Politics, and Entertainment) and other things I find important. Please if you like what you read or have any questions drop a comment and I will respond as soon as I can. I look forward to developing this and growing it into something special. I will talk with you soon.
